Nairobi – Nanyuki – Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Your Mount Kenya hiking 4 days adventure begins early in the morning with a scenic drive from Nairobi to Nanyuki, passing through coffee plantations and rural highlands.Upon arrival at Sirimon Gate (2,650m), you’ll meet your trekking team—guides, porters, and cook. Begin a gentle hike through the lush montane forest, rich with wildlife and indigenous plants. The 3-4 hour trek takes you through bamboo and rosewood forests, ending at Old Moses Camp (Judmaier Camp) at 3,300m.
Old Moses Camp – Shipton’s Camp (4,200m)
After breakfast, continue your Mount Kenya trek through the moorland and high alpine scenery. The 14km hike to Shipton’s Camp is moderately challenging, crossing rivers, valleys, and the scenic Mackinder’s Valley. Watch for giant lobelias, rock hyraxes, and mountain birds. You will arrive at Shipton’s Camp at 4,200m in the shadow of the snow-capped Batian and Nelion peaks.
Summit Attempt – Point Lenana (4,985m) – Old Moses Camp
Wake up before dawn for the most exhilarating part of your Mount Kenya hiking. Begin your ascent to Point Lenana, the third-highest peak of Mount Kenya at 4,985m. Hike in darkness under the stars to reach the summit by sunrise,witnessing breathtaking views over the Kenyan plains, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the glacier-carved peaks. After photos and celebration, descend back to Shipton’s Camp for brunch, then continue descending to Old Moses Camp for your final overnight.
Old Moses Camp – Sirimon Gate – Nairobi
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before completing your descent through the forest to Sirimon Gate. Your driver will meet you here for the return journey to Nairobi or to other Safari destination, arriving by late afternoon.
