Voi Safari Lodge is a 3-star mid-range lodge nestled in the scenic rocky hills of Voi, within Tsavo East National Park—Kenya’s largest and oldest game park, located approximately 160 kilometers from Mombasa. This lodge is one of the most affordable accommodation options inside the park, offering excellent value for both leisure and business travelers.
If you’re traveling from Nairobi, the lodge is about 5 to 6 hours by road, or a short 1.5-hour flight followed by a 30-minute transfer from the nearest airstrip in a safari vehicle. Set high on a cliff, Voi Safari Lodge overlooks vast plains teeming with wildlife, offering a classic African bush experience with modern comforts. Nearby attractions include Lugard’s Falls, Mudanda Rock, Yatta Plateau, and the Kanderi Swamp.

Activities at Voi Safari Lodge – Tsavo East
1. Game Drives
Enjoy two daily game drives across Tsavo East National Park. Witness a wide array of wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, and over 500 bird species such as hornbills, weavers, and ostriches. The best time for game viewing is the dry season (June–October).
2. Horseback Safaris
For an additional fee, guests can enjoy horse riding through the park, getting up close to wildlife under the guidance of a professional rider. Prior riding experience is recommended.
3. Bush Dining Experiences
Savor memorable meals under the African sky. With prior notice, the lodge can organize bush breakfasts, picnics, and dinners, all prepared by skilled chefs.
4. Bird Watching
With over 500 recorded bird species, Tsavo East is a haven for bird watchers. Seasonal migratory species appear between November and April. Spot unique birds like the golden-breasted starling, African finfoot, vulturine guineafowl, martial eagle, Shelley’s starling, and many more.
5. Hot Air Balloon Safaris
Soar above Tsavo’s savannah plains in a hot air balloon, priced at approximately $450 per person. The experience includes stunning aerial views, a bush breakfast, and champagne on landing.

Facilities and services at Voi Safari Lodge
The bar: Voi lodge has three bars which include the main bar found at the terrace and is open every day from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the Hydrax bar which is operational from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and opens every day of the week and is mainly used for private functions. The third bar is the pool bar which has breathtaking views of the swimming pool that is found nearby and the surrounding plains. The pool bar is open every day of the week from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The conference hall: At the lodge, we value all our guests and the importance of all the activities that they need to attend and this includes meetings, training, and any other events. The conference room and the meeting hall are well-equipped to handle all kinds of meetings with a laptop, microphone, extension cables, WIFI, complimentary bottled water, PA system with cordless, LCD projector, writing materials (writing pads and pens, markers), flipchart boards and papers. Snacks are also provided and these include a lunch buffet served with a soft drink and a morning/ afternoon snack. Both rooms need prior booking but this all depends on the number of attendees and the availability of the conference room.
A photo hide: An underground photo hide is available to photographers. The best place for one to take photos of the wildlife both animal and bird species within the Tsavo East National Park. The photo hide is strategically located near the waterhole where animals can be seen easily.
The dining and restaurant: Voi has an extremely large dining area where meals are served. The meals are prepared by well-trained chefs and the food prepared is fresh from the gardens, and it includes both local and international dishes. If you have dietary requirements, communicate to the lodge in advance for better preparations.
Health and Fitness Centres: the fitness and health Centres at the lodge are well facilitated with modern and necessary equipment and these are available to all guests at the Voi. These include a spa, steam bath, massage and gym.
Other services that are available at the lodge include WIFI, a craft shop for personal shopping (the craft shop has items like safari necessities, shoes, jewellery, shoes), airport drop-offs and pickups, honeymoon packages, free parking for guests, a swimming pool with a pool deck where guests cool off during the dry season and laundry services. This lodge is the sister lodge to Ngulia Safari Lodge located at the Tsavo West National Park.
