3 Day Safari to Samburu National Reserve from Nairobi

You will drive north across the equator and through the dramatic landscapes of central Kenya, passing rural villages, farms, and open plains with views of Mount Kenya in the distance. You’ll arrive at Samburu around midday, just in time for check-in and lunch at your lodge or tented camp or Lunch can be en route.

In the afternoon, proceed on your first game drive in Samburu, a reserve known for its unique dryland ecosystem and rare wildlife species not commonly found in other Kenyan parks. Keep your eyes open for the “Samburu Special Five” – the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk – along with elephants, lions, leopards, and a wide variety of birds. After the game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay under the stars.

You’ll start with an early morning game drive, the best time to catch predators on the move and wildlife activity in the cool morning air. After a hearty breakfast, enjoy some leisure time at the lodge or opt for a cultural visit to a Samburu village (optional). After lunch, you will set out again for an afternoon game drive, exploring different parts of the reserve, such as the Ewaso Nyiro River banks where animals gather to drink. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
